Poi Balls

Poi Balls

On Saturday, I went to the other side of Kona, which is Hilo. Stopped by at the Tokunaga Store to purchase fishing supplies when I saw the Food truck that sells poi balls was parked at the parking lot. I knew that I wanted so I went and bought some. Fun fact for me is that I don't usually eat poi, I never do. Even if it's offered, I don't really choose to eat it. And I know a lot of people will curse why I don't eat poi and blah blah. Dude! Girl! Person! I have a choice on what I eat. I am getting sidetracked.. Let’s continue with the poi balls.
They offered Poi  Balls and Haupia Balls.

The price for the balls are good, not overpriced.

Poi Balls

Haupia Balls

I got a fresh batch so it was warm and crunchy. I like it. It would have been great with a sweet dip.. Now based in taste, the poi balls didn’t have much, it was breaded too much. On the other hand, the Haupia Balls were flavorful and good. I really liked it, I wish I bought more of it. Other than taste, the balls are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and egg free, so if you have allergies in those categories, feel free to eat a lot.

If you see this food truck, stop by and try their Haupia balls, for sure. Also try their POI Balls. As a culinary student, I always try everything. 😂
